Such XML files BOM1.xml and BOM3.xml have price value of 104.95. In order to read the XML column using C# code,you can use Cross Apply query in the command text and as a good practice, use SQLParameter when passing data to the query.
private static void ReadXMLColumn()
{
 double price = 104.95;
 DataTable table = new DataTable();
 using (SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["DefaultConnection"].ConnectionString))
 {
  string query = "SET ANSI_NULLS, QUOTED_IDENTIFIER, CONCAT_NULL_YIELDS_NULL, ANSI_WARNINGS, ANSI_PADDING ON;"
      + " select * from "
      + " (select id, name, pref.value('(text())[1]', 'varchar(max)') as price "
      + " from "
      + " XMLBooks CROSS APPLY "
      + " bookXML.nodes('(/catalog/book/price)') AS bookXML(pref) "
      + " )  as Result where price = @price;";

  SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(query, con);
  con.Open();
  command.Parameters.Add("@price", SqlDbType.Float).Value = price;
  using (SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter(command))
  {
   da.Fill(table);
   if (table.Rows.Count > 0)
   {
    foreach (DataRow row in table.Rows)
    {
     Console.WriteLine("ID Number {0} of XML File {1} with XML Price value of {2}",
           row["id"].ToString(),
           row["name"].ToString(), price);
    }
   }
  }
 }
}
The code above produces the output such as below.
